CFA Awards of Excellence – Rising Star Award: David Thompson
The CFA Rising Star Award recognizes an employee of a CFA member company who is in the early stages of their career and has made a significant contribution to successful operations, health and safety, and/or community engagement.
This Rising Star award winner has demonstrated versatility in their thinking along with enthusiasm and results. In his work at Suncor, David Thompson developed a renewable fuel blending strategy for Suncor to most cost-effectively comply with Canadian fuel regulations. David led a multidisciplinary team of experts to identify, sort through over 100 options, and recommend a portfolio of investments. In his evaluation, he considered economics, benefits to end users / consumers, and lowest GHG emissions. A true rising star, David is always seeking to improve operational performance, safety, and reliability of Suncor’s operations.
